Tools for musicians

I've worked as a dev for years, so have mixed feelings about how my hard won skills are being devalued by AI, but it's easier than ever to generate custom tools, and I'll share those I make on this site. If you want to make a suggestion for a fix, improvement, or new tool, get in touch via the contact page.

For now, there's nothing particularly unusual, but ai means things that used not to be worth the trouble can now be up and running far more easily. There's obviously a balance, as I don't want to spend time fine tuing something that won't be used.

I'll note what I see as next steps or improvements - again, feel free to make suggestions.

New Tools (February 2026)

I've recently added a significant update to the tool suite:

• Rhythm Trainer — Master your rudiments with a visual sticking guide and integrated metronome.
• Scale Explorer — Explore 14 different scale types as abstract interval patterns with audio feedback.
• Circle of Fifths — Interactive map of key relationships, signatures, and triad chords.
• Fretboard Explorer — Visualize scales and intervals on the guitar fretboard with support for multiple tunings.
• Piano Scales — Visual keyboard showing scale fingerings and notes for all keys.
• Fretless Explorer — Fingerboard reference for Viola, Violin, and Cello.
• Vocal Harmoniser — Create melody sequences and hear them with generated harmonies.

Metronome

• I could add alternate sounds and volume control
• Auto incrementing bpm for eg rudiments practise
• I'm considering a rudiments trainer which would give a random example to work on (Now live as the Rhythm Trainer!)

CAGED Shape & Key Generator

This is mostly for guitarists, and should be better explained. The idea is to

not just give a starting key but a shape basis, as all chords on guitar can be derived from the caged system. You can also explore these shapes visually in the Fretboard Explorer.
